How does the performance of the Dolph-Chebychev and Kaiser windows perform with respect to transition bandwidth and stop band attenuation.

The window functions, impulse response and frequency response of LP filters using the 2 windows are compared in the following applet.
By adjusting the variable parameters, it can be seen that the 2 windows can produce very similar filters.



The image below show both windows adjusted to give a minimum stop band attenuation of 100dB. In this case the Kaiser window has a marginally better performance in the transition band.

The case below is of shorter length and here the Dolph-Chebychev window has marginally better performance than the Kaiser window.
