DFT, 1 Sine with Nonlinear Functions.

Cuthbert Nyack
In signal processing multiplication of signals is sometimes done deliberately, at other times it happens unintentionally. The applet below shows the spectrum of sin, sin2, and sin3.

eg parameters:-

for f(t) = sin(w1 t) (3.0, NA, 2.0, 6.07, 35, NA, 16, 10, 15.0, 0.4) show that f(t) has 1 line at w1,
(f(t))2 has 2 lines at 0 and 2w1
while (f(t))3 has 2 lines at w1 and 3w1.

(3.0, NA, 2.0, 6.60, 45, NA, 16, 10, 15.0, 0.4)
The DFT spectra now looks very different.
